In a joint effort towards enhancing peacebuilding via education, Le'hager Consulting signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Women Peace and Security Institute (AWPSI). The two entities aim to assess and advocate for an Integrated Comprehensive Peace Education Curriculum that can be integrated into the Ethiopian education system.
Through this partnership, the two institutions will work together on a series of activities to build evidence and traction on peace education. These include:
Carrying out a comprehensive analysis and producing evidence under the study titled "Assessing the Relevance of Peace Education Curriculum in Ethiopia: Generating Evidence for Advocacy."
Organizing a high-level advocacy meeting on developing a whole-of-curriculum peace education curriculum.
Creating an advocacy strategy to promote the integration of peace education into Ethiopia's national curriculum.
It is a critical step towards nurturing a generation of students with the culture of dialogue, understanding, and peaceful existence. It is a manifestation of a growing reality that genuine peace begins in schools, where education can serve as a pillar of unity and defiance.
The partnership brings together Le'hager’s expertise in research, strategic consulting, and evidence-based policy development with AWPSI’s leadership in peacebuilding, women’s empowerment, and advocacy. Together, they aim to contribute to Ethiopia’s long-term peace and social transformation through a curriculum that embeds peace education as a core learning principle.
